Since that time, Lita has taken a lot of time to rebuild her life and her career.
She teamed up with guitarist Gary Hoey to write and record her new album, Living Like a Runaway.
Her fairytale marriage to rocker Jim Gillette ended badly.
Her Cinderella life, living on her own private island, came to and end.
Well unfortunately my mother has left me no choice with her latest crazy allegations against my father (including kidnapping) and recent attempts to start a nation-wide amber alert type search for my brother and me. By the way, I’m 18 and can live wherever I want, with whoever I want, and I choose to live with my dad.
How ridiculous would it be for my mother to put out an amber alert on me even though I’m a legal adult. Five years ago a court appointed doctor told my brother and me that our mother was mentally ill. Unfortunately my mother has never accepted any responsibility for her actions and continues to blame anyone and everyone all while publicly playing the victim. She was violent, threatening, and tried to make my brother and me hate our dad.
In the interview that follows, Lita discusses her painful family situation, as well as the songs on her new album.
I could tell you horror stories for days but that wouldn’t accomplish anything. She needs to stop lying and she needs to leave us alone.I emailed Doug and said, “Do you have any riffs up your sleeve?” Doug sent me some MP3s of things he had written but they were really melodic and pretty. We made him promise to do everything he could so we never had to see our mother again. Our mother said horrible things about our dad all the time. She called us “fucking faggots” because we used to sit with our dad and watch movies. He kept his promise and for that we are forever grateful. Our mother threatened to have us thrown in a Foster home and said we’d never see our dad again. Because we told her we didn’t want to be with her and she was angry we told all the professionals that she beat us.In January, reports surfaced from the divorce filings of Lita Ford and her estranged husband.Jim Gillette, that her children feared that Ford would kill them.Lita: We didn’t want to make a cover tune the single.Although the song is not written by Lita Ford, we own this version.I think as a bonus track, it may want to make people go out and get the album. Another bonus track titled “Bad Neighborhood” is sick. The riff, itself, was written by Doug Aldrich, from Whitesnake.Gary and I were running out of ideas after we wrote the entire album. She ran away from an allegedly abusive relationship, fearing for her life, to the point she had to leave her two sons with their father. Her long awaited comeback album in 2009, Wicked Wonderland, failed miserably, as the music was as convoluted, out of place and painful as her marriage. The result is an emotional album where Lita recounts the truth behind her supposed perfect life on the island.
